Community Garden

According to the Census Bureau, over 1/3 of New Paltz lives below the poverty line.  Our goal, with the community gardens, is to create a space for all people to experience the joy of growing their own food and feeding their family fresh vegetables.

Your support will allow us to create a space to come together with our neighbors and enjoy God's good bounty.

Contact [email protected] for more information on participating in the community garden, or to volunteer.

Peace and Carrots Community Garden and Composter

The "Peace and Carrots Community Garden and Composter" has been working since early Spring to spruce up the garden for another season. This will be the 9th year of the garden, and not surprising, the garden beds have required replacements and repairs.  Fresh soil and compost are now filling those rebuilt and expanded beds.

The goal of the Peace & Carrots Garden is to involve a community of dependable volunteers who will contribute their time for planting, mulching, watering, harvesting, etc.  The volunteers will be able to take a share of the vegetables harvested home - and the remainder will be delivered every Sunday to the New Paltz Free Fresh Food Giveaway.

We are looking for people interested in working in the garden.  Every Sunday from 11:00-1:00 there is a "work party" where we do garden chores and pick vegetables for the Free Fresh Food.  And, if Sunday is not convenient, there are also openings for volunteers during the week to come water the garden.

Finally, there is also space for people who would like to join the Community Composter - right next to the garden.  There is room for about twenty more families.  It's free - and your food scraps return the fertility to the Peace and Carrots Garden.

We believe there are about 10 openings at the Garden and 20 at the Composter.  We are making these openings available to the church members first before we reach out to New Paltz community.

Please contact [email protected] or call Josephine at 845-656-6071 if you are interested or have any questions.  Thank you.
